Currently, stroke is a leading cause of serious long-term disability in the world. It is also a leading cause of death for Americans. According to the World Stroke Organization, nearly 1 in 4 adults over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. It is estimated more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke each year and unfortunately every 4 minutes, someone dies of a stroke.
The Stroke Family Warmline connects stroke survivors and their families with an American Stroke Association team member who can provide support, helpful information or just a listening ear.
